NATURAL NEWS | Lockdown Extension (COVID-19)

The President of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa, announced that there will be an extension of the national lockdown by a further 2 weeks. President Ramaphosa announced the news on Thursday evening, 9th April 2020, when giving his scheduled Covid-19 address to South Africa via press briefing at 20:00.

The initial date for the ending of the lockdown period was scheduled to be on Friday 17th April 2020, and has now been extended to the the 00:00 on the 1st of May, also on a Friday.

The good news, however, is that because of President Ramaphosa's vigilance in taking charge of the matter as early as possible as well as compliant South Afrian patriots, the rate of infection has dropped dramatically from over 40% to 4% since the lockdown period began on the 17th. An extension is therefore necessary to ensure that we do not phase a 2nd wave whereby the infection rate slows down, the restrictions are relaxed and the virus begins to spread again rapidly such as in South Korea.

We encourage all South Aftricans to remain strong during these tough times and unity no matter our differences is needed now more than ever before.
