We often seek in others the properties we long to call our own. It’s the simple things that touches the soul.
A smile, so ridiculously full of life. How dare they smile, have they not seen the world?
Have they not looked at the sky and seen nothing but darkness?
It’s through their eyes… they make you see it all, one star at a time. It wasn’t long before I could see constellations. I saw it in the skies and most importantly I could see it in mine. That twinkle I housed within my eyes.
I was no longer just an observer; I had vision.
It’s a marvellous thing to possess, the gift of sight.
I could see my dream and my passion intertwine. They were walking hand in hand. For the very first time I allowed myself to grasp at their outstretched hands.
It’s odd to realize that you’ve always had these things. These beautiful sentiments. Dream was always there, but I never felt worthy. Dream was too sacred and majestic to consider a friend. Dream was too beautiful, too unreal. Dream wandered around; it almost became nothing but a wisp of smoke.
Passion was something I could not define for myself.
Passion was more of a physicality than a drive. Passion too abstract, almost intangible. I envied those who knew what it was. I defined it for myself when it was the drive of life that gave me purpose.
These two sentiments allowed me to see the most sought out treasure of all…
Happiness.
It’s a marvellous thing to possess, the gift of sight. The vision before me, was finally myself. I took a moment, “Thank you.” I could finally see what I longed for; I saw the beauty of happiness. It was the twinkle I had possessed all along.

VISION
According to Merriam Webster, Vision is defined as:
- The act or power of seeing (Sight)
- A manifestation to the senses of something immaterial
- The act or power of imagination.
Having vision means that you are not just limited to what you see in the material world. Your Passion, your Dream; your Happiness, are not only determined by what’s around you, but rather what is within you. At any given moment, you make the choice to change your world, by changing yourself first – if you just allow your light to shine through.
Not only do you have this light inside of you; You are the light. Your thoughts, you dream, your desire and everything that comes from deep within you, will provide the light that you need to keep going after your wildest dreams – no matter your space or environment. You have to believe that.
If you are in a completely blacked out space, and you need to move forward, you use a lamp/lantern (or your phone’s torch) which you need only enough light just to see what’s in front of you. You keep moving, step by step. You do not need to see the entire space just yet, just enough to keep you going. The more you move, the more you see.
Vision will guide you through any dark space, because your inner light is enough. You are enough. You don’t need to see it, in order to ‘see’ it. Feel It, Crave It; Pray for it – and Act on it. Keep yourself motivated. Your life can be elevated. Since the day you born, you were already designated. Happiness is a choice; it is up to you to embrace it.
Faith in the unseen is, indeed, The Gift of Sight.
