Meet Dikgang N Don

Dikgang Rakhoabe, also known as Dikgang N Don, is an underground DJ, graphic designer and senior member of The Moody Nights Podcast. Having grown up in the township of Kanana, a small mining community of Orkney in the Klerksdorp region of North West, South Africa, music has always been pillar of strength in his life. This influenced in him his thinking and working towards a better tomorrow away from envitonmental trials and tribulations.

He prides himself with humility and respect, posing a laid back demeanor with laser sharp focus. His musical influences stem from Soul Candi compilation albums, Naked Music, Atjazz Record Company,

HOUSE AFRIKA and the likes of DJ Fresh, DJ Monde, DJ Kabzela, and Oskido to name a few.

Although acknowledging each DJ’s style and sound signature as a necessity to serve the people with as much good music as possible, Dikgang believes that his unique perspective on house music along with his special sound signature is what sets him apart from the pack. “I play more sounds like underground Dubs, Melodic House, Deep House, Techno, Minimal / Deep Tech & Nu Disco/Disco,” he says.

His first break came when he was given his first chance to play was at The Tosh (Coffee Lounge), Klerksdorp CBD on the 20 April 2019 while I was attending 4:20 celebration. “It was a lifetime experience. I have always heard about 4:20 events but I haven’t attended one yet – it was purely awesomeness vibes.” This earned him a residency every Friday at The Tosh, and has never looked back since.

Being in a competitive industry, his natural ear for good sounds and passion for music is what gives him an edge and makes it all the more worthwhile. “The best part about being a DJ & being in the industry is that I get to meet up with different people from different walks of life; and everyone who looks up to me to soothe their hearts with good music and also in supporting me as a DJ and my art & craft at large,” he explains.

“I am grateful with what I have achieved so far. Doing more of this will allow 2023 to shine a light on all the dreams we want to achieve as the youth and fight unemployment by nurturing our own dreams,” speaking like the leader of the new school with old school wisdom indeed. Dikgang is the next big thing.

The Moody Nights Podcast is an innovative streaming/downloading service for quality music by Dikgang N Don and affiliates. Boasting an unending catalogue of mixes by various artists on a constant basis, in order to promote underground artists onto the mainstream.
